Course Description:  Why has the number of cancer related deaths remained relatively unchanged in the last fifty years, even as the number of deaths from heart disease has decreased by one-half? What makes cancer more difficult to deal with than other diseases? To shed light upon those questions, this course will cover a broad range of topics, including the way social, economic and political factors influence research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment for patients with cancer.
