It's hard to believe that an entire year has passed by so quickly. With that in mind, I'll bet the seniors will be glad to see that the roster has been updated. Enjoy it while you can, guys, because next year's seniors are threatening to stay on top of those kinds of things... but then again, don't they every year?
Seriously, though, it was a very successful year for Aflicktion! I heard good things about the team during the Fall, and I wasn't disappointed when I came back across the pond. I'll leave the specific tournaments for the forums, but there was a ton of enthusiasm at the indoor practices and it paid off, as we did well for ourselves both on and off the field. We were even able to field a team in a women's tournament! Also, I definitely set a personal record for the most times playing Frolf. However, I'll second Rich Connors in saying that most important is how well we've melded as a team - we play pretty competitively, but we have a good time together regardless, and as cliche as it sounds it really is the Spirit that makes Ultimate as enjoyable as it is. I tip my (cowboy) hat in extreme gratitude to all the seniors and others for putting everything together.
Taking a quick glance towards the future, I want to encourage all of the year's newcomers to come back out again next year. All of you are brimming with potential and are really cool - I'd hate to see either squandered (and "work" is NOT a valid excuse). In any case, everyone should
take note of the Forums and check them regularly, because we're going to be using it almost exclusively for communication - the emails got a little ridiculous. Also, make sure you
check the tournament wiki page and know how to use it, because that'll be the definitive source for who's going to what tournaments next year.
Finally, I'd like to wish a fond farewell to all our graduating seniors: Red, Christa, Christian, Brendan, Bailey, and Beef. I'm anxiously looking forward to seeing who'll be the Rich Connors of the future (assuming Enrique ever gives up the position). Make sure to stay in touch, and we will see you all at the Halloween Tourney!
