"Iron Horses in Penn's Woods" by Commonwealth Speaker Dr. Charles
W. Boas. Pennsylvania is believed to have had more railroads than any other
state, possible 2500 in all. Railroad historain Boas will discuss
the history of rail systems in Pennsylvania and the future of rail
service in the new century.

Nov. 15 - Fall Lecture Series (7:30 PM, National Canal
Museum/Two Rivers Landing auditorium)

"Cruiser U.S.S. Olympia" by Robert Stewart. The U.S.S. Olympia
is the sole surviving vessel from the Spanish-American War and
is now a museum ship opearted by the Independence Seaport Museum in
Philadelphia. Stewart was hired by the Natinal Park Service to
document all parts of the vessel in photography and prepare a written history.
