Center for Canal History and Technology
Even before entering the center one will begin the get a sense of the era's transportation. On a short length of track will stand an “0-4-0” saddle-tank locomotive. The clang of the blacksmith will bring you to his shop on the towpath side of the museum. Not far from the blacksmith's shop one encounters a 26-ton steam engine which once produced electricity. Once inside, one will see exhibits organized around major artifacts from the area's industrial and transportation history. In addition to artifacts, the Center for Canal History and Technology will National Canal Museum's Archives. Anticipated exhibits include: the Blacksmith
