How Canals Work

Ask Lance

The National Canal Museum welcomes teachers and students to investigate the transportation and industrial revolutions that changed this region, and the country.

At the Museum, teachers and students have an opportunity to learn about canals and industrial technology in a fun and interactive way.  Exhibits at the museum are designed to integrate history and education, while offering our visitors a fun experience.

In the past, a variety of exhibits have rotated through the museum. Recent exhibits and programs have included:   Lehigh Valley Railroads

Triangles, Arches, and Beams:  Explore the World of Engineering with DiscoverE

Behind the Seams: the Silk Industry of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor.

Outside of the Museum, students and teachers have the opportunity to participate in the annual  Immersion Days program.
