How to Organize
a Group
Prospective student clubs or organizations may acquire Student Government recognition by preparing a constitution and providing a roster of 20 or more interested participants to the Student Organizations Committee of Student Government. If recognition is granted, student groups are asked to prepare formal budget requests annually and/or apply for special allocation from the Student Government during the academic year. Student Government “recognition” acknowledges the diversity of skills, interests, and opinions present within the student body; it does not, however, carry with it the endorsement of the Student Government or of the College. A large number of organized activities, clubs, club sports, societies and other student organizations are recognized by the College through the Student Government. Recognition permits these groups to develop programs and activities and to use College facilities. The College offers these groups leadership training opportunities and advising on financial and other matters of interest to student organizations through the offices of Student Life Programs and Residence Life, and the Student Government, but it does not provide supervision for these groups. The College is not liable for any personal injuries and/or medical expenses resulting from club activities whether on or off campus. |
