Mexican Pavilion

Description of the Mexican Pavilion from the Expo '86 Official Souvenir Guide:

The Mexico Pavilion features the role of communications and transportation in shaping its modern history, from a time several thousands of years ago. The splendor of Pre-Columbian civilizations, and the mysteries of their technologies, form another part of Mexico's story.

Mexico is a land of remarkable engineering achievements. The ancient Olmec people transported massive stone sculptures more than 100 km inland. Their methods remain a mystery.

Today, Mexico has 225 000 kn of roads, 25 000 km of railways, seven million telephone sets installed, 54 airports, 19 commercial ports and two industrial ports. This infrastructure enables it to meet the requirements of the modern era, in Mexico and abroad. It also enhances the image of Mexico as one of the most attractive countries of the world.
