The Panama Canal, its importamce and future, highlights the Republic of Panama Pavilion. Few things have played such an important role in promoting energy conservation in the shipping industry as the Panama Canal. This manmade waterway has created a 78-year bond of friendship and cooperation with the United States and other countries. The exhibit also features original art representative of Panama's culture and lifestyle. Panama was the 20th country to commit to participate in the 1982 World's Fair.
