Residence Hall FacilitiesCable TV: Individual rooms are wired for cable television in all residence halls. To obtain cable service students must contact STC. Television lounges in all halls are equipped with cable. Furniture: Each student is furnished with four accessories: a bed, dresser, desk, and desk chair. In rooms that do not have built-in closets, the College also provides a wardrobe. All college provided furniture must remain in student rooms. Keys/Tags: The keys issued to students open students individual room doors. Electronic access tags issued to students open exterior residence hall doors. Exterior hall doors are locked 24 hours a day. There is a $25.00 charge for lost keys or tags. Any student who loses a key or tag should report the loss to the Office of Public Safety as soon as possible after the loss is noted. Students who get locked out of their room must contact the Office of Public Safety for re-entry. There is a fee for this service. Kitchens: Cooking facilities are provided in all residence halls. Appliances may vary (stoves, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators). As a courtesy to other residents, students are expected to clean and remove all personal cooking items and discard waste. Use of non-approved cooking applicances in student bedrooms is prohibited. Laundry: The College contracts with an outside vendor to provide coinless laundry facilities are in every residence hall except Watson Courts. Residents of Watson Courts are given check point access to the laundry room in Soles Hall (exterior entrance). Maintenance: Plant Operations is responsible for all college-owned residential facilities. Residence Life staff act as liaisons to Plant to assist students in getting their maintenance problems resolved. Students may submit work orders here or by reporting problems to their Resident Advisor. Microfridge: To prevent electrical circuitry overloads, the only microwave permitted in residence hall rooms is a microfridge. A microfridge is a combination refrigerator/microwave that regulates its power supply. Microfidge units may be purchased or rented from Campus Specialties www.campusspec.com (800) 525-7307. Refrigerators: Small refrigerators (no larger than 4.0 cu/ft) are permitted in the residence halls. Students may bring their own refrigerator or rent a unit through Campus Specialties (www.campusspec.com (800) 525-7307) or the Melrick Company (printable order form (732) 381-6046) Room Changes: In the event a student requests relocation to a different building or room, the established room change process must be followed. This process is in place to ensure fairness and that steps have been taken to resolve conflicts. Room Inspections: At the beginning of each academic year, College staff complete a pre-occupancy inspection to record the condition of the room. Students are responsible for reviewing this form for accuracy and submitting it to the Residence Life staff. Typically each room is inspected twice each year by Plant Operations staff to assess and bill for damages. Telephones: All residence halls are wired for individual room phones. Students must provide their own telephone and answering machine. Contact STC services at (610) 330-4357 to contract for long-distance and/or voicemail service. Vending: The College contracts with an outside company to provide vending machines in the residence halls.
