Residence Hall Staff
The residence hall staff is eager to work with students in
making the residence hall a comfortable place to live that contributes
to the overall success and enjoyment at Lafayette.
Residence hall living should enhance each student's educational
experience. The College's student residence hall staff, consisting
of Head Residents and Resident Advisors, promotes the
accomplishment of this objective. These students are carefully
selected and trained to help develop a sense of community within
the halls and to help resolve academic, social, or personal
problems that students may encounter.
Resident Advisors
Resident Advisors (RAs) live on each residence hall floor and
work with other residence hall and College staff to foster an
environment within the residence halls that promotes the educational
experience of residential living. The RA articulates the philosophy
and policies of the Office of Residence Life and the College
to his/her residents, and in turn, represents the needs of the
students to the administration. The job of the RA combines many
roles: information resource, activities organizer, liaison to
the Office of Residence Life, adviser, and friend.
Head Resident Advisors
Head Residents (HRs) serve as the primary link between the
Office of Residence Life and the Resident Advisors. The HR serves
as a resource and referral person for all the residents of his
or her area. The HR coordinates, supervises, and/or completes
various administrative tasks and assists with various office
projects throughout the year. Head Residents are juniors
or seniors who have previous RA experience.
Become an RA
The Office of Residence Life conducts a selection process
to hire Resident Advisors each semester. In the Fall, RAs are hired for any mid-year vacancies. In the Spring, staff are hired for the following year. The selection process
has three stages: written application, group activity, and individual
interview. The information gathered is combined with recommendations
to evaluate each candidate's suitability for an RA position.

Faculty Residents
In addition to the students and professional Office of Residence Life staff members who live on campus, there are also several other campus professionals who reside in the residence halls as part of the Faculty Resident Program. These faculty and staff members are available as a resource to enhance the living and learning community within the residence halls.
