I know it is tacky to boast about your own children, but forgive me for telling about my Grandmother, Ella May Stumpe, who has an interesting story. She was born on July 12, 1895 in North Dakota -- shortly after it became a state -- she went "home to be with her mother" (her words) on August 16, 2005 at the fine age of 110. In her 70s she took up painting. She later had in her mind the fact that she should write her life story for her hundredth birthday - she grew a bit frustrated with progress, so she enrolled in a computer course at a community college when she was 98. She completed two books. She continued being alert and active into her hundreds, but did slow down in the years before she went home.
