Aquatics School
Lifeguard Training
This course will teach the skills and knowledge needed to be a professional lifeguard. Course participants must be at least 15 years old by the date of the last class.
Mon & Wed from 6:30-10 pm, 4/21– 5/14 or
Friday 5-10 pm, Sat & Sun 11 am-4 pm, 3/28-4/6
Fee: $160
Lifeguard Review
This course is for currently certified lifeguards who want a brief review and recertification in Lifeguard Training, CPR - PR and Community First Aid. Proof of current certification is required. Candidates must bring their Lifeguard Training r.01 textbook too.
Sat & Sun, 10 am -- 4 pm, January 5th & 6th
Fee: $100
Lifeguard Challenge
This course is for currently certified lifeguards who want a quick recertification in all required skills. Proof of current certification is required.
Wednesday, 6-10 pm, May 13th
Fee: $70
Basic Water Rescue
This course provides the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatics emergencies by teaching participants how to protect themselves while assisting others. This four hour course does not provide Lifeguard certification. Minimum of four and maximum of 10 student per class. Scheduled upon request.

Group Swim Lessons (five lessons between February 10th and March 9th)
Level 1: Water Exploration
This is for children who are four years and older. The main focus will be on water entry and exit, buoyancy and increasing overall comfort in the water.
Sundays from 2:00 - 2:30 pm
Level 2: Primary Skills
A continuation of Level 1. Focus on basic stroke development, buoyancy and breath control.
Sundays from 2:30– 3:00 pm
Level 3: Stroke Readiness
Continuation of Level II. Focus on basic stroke development (front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke), treading water, swimming underwater and floating without a flotation device.
Sundays 3:00– 3:30 pm

Speciality lessons
Swim Conditioning
This class is intended for adults and college students who want to improve their strokes or proficiency in the water. This class will push you physically to reach your goals. All experience levels and conditions welcome!
Workouts provided 1 day per week
Mon/Wed/Fri from 12 - 1:00 pm
February 11 – March 21
Price: $20 with Lafayette or Rec Swim ID
Kayak Instruction
In case you haven't noticed, whitewater kayaking is a hot sport. There are few things as satisfying as paddling a river in full control of your boat and your abilities. Join the staff of Northeast PA Kayak School for a total of 8 hours of instruction in the pool, learning the fundamentals of kayaking. These include paddling strokes, braces, balance, keeping your cool underwater, and lots of time learning the Eskimo Roll! The class is light-hearted, quick moving, and really fun! Taught by American Canoe Association certified in whitewater kayak instructors. No experience or equipment required.
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6 pm-8 pm
March 25, 27 & April 1, 3.

SCUBA Diving
Learn everything you need to know to go diving and earn the opportunity. To become PADI certified. Taught by Harry Douris, Kunuku Dive & Travel
