Meet a few of our Policy Studies Majors...
 

Kelsey Boyd ’11 is a Policy Studies major with a concentration in Science Policy.  This summer she did Excel Research with Professor Mark Crain analyzing Federal environmental regulations.  Beginning Fall ’09 she will be doing chemistry research with Professor Mylon through an EPA GRO Fellowship, which funds research for two years and includes a summer internship at an EPA lab.  The research will focus on copper concentrations throughout the year in the Lehigh and Delaware Rivers.  On campus she is a member of Delta Delta Delta, swim club, a volunteer at Landis, and a student assistant for the Anthropology and Sociology department. 

Marie Garofalo '10 is a Policy Studies (Arts and Media concentration) and English double major. After working as a Stage Manager in the 2006 Election Night Broadcast, Marie became an on-camera reporter for the Election coverage this past November. Marie studied abroad during the spring 2009 semester in Sydney, Australia and is currently interning at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for the popular Australian program, "The New Inventors." She is working as a research coordinator and helping the Director's Assistant in the Control Room when they record episodes each Friday. She has appeared as an extra in one of the segments for the show and she has done voiceover work, as well. On campus, Marie is a manager for the Lafayette Annual Fund, a member of the Tour Guide Committee, and a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She also took part in an externship at CNN with Lafayette alumna Carrie Lee '89 in January 2008.

Megan Jones '11 is a Policy Studies major. In the spring of 2009 she received the the Caine Scholars Award in Global Leadership, Business, and Policy. The award, which was specifically created for Policy Studies majors, provides a $5,000 stipend for a summer internship experience.  Megan will be interning in the International Trade Policy group at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC during the summer of 2009.

Justin Kamine '11is a Policy Studies and Economics double major with a concentration in Public Policy.  Justin is the campus sustainability intern for 2008/2009 and is a member of the varsity mens soccer team. In the spring of 2009, Justin and fellow PS major Brad Weiss '10 lead a movement focusing on creating a “green” environment at Lafayette College which entails maximizing energy use and creating a more self reliant energy source for the school. Justin's entire family has attended college at Lafayette, and he hopes to go into the environmental and or green energy industry when he graduates. 

Justin Kamine '11 - Vice President, Policy In Action

Jayne Miller '10 is a Policy Studies major with a focus in Arts and Media. She served as the results anchor for the 2008 Live Election Broadcast and as a host in 2006. She is the news editor for the Lafayette Student Newspaper and a student director for the Marquis Players charity theater organization. She is currently studying television and film in London and interning with The Producers, a regional production company.

Jayne Miller '10 - Secretary, Policy In Action

Kimberly Moogalian ’10 is a Policy Studies major with a Corporate and Public Finance concentration. She is currently participating in the Washington Semester Program in Economic Policy at American University. She interned at the Libertarian National Committee in Washington, D.C. and is currently interning at Americans for Tax Reform this summer. At Lafayette, Kimberly is an overnight host, a tutor at Easton Area High School, and an Econometrics tutor.

Estefania Sanchez '10 is a Policy Studies major with an Education concentration. She has been collaborating with Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar in Ecuador to sustain the project “Teacher Training” which provides teachers in public primary schools with better teaching methods for the children to obtain a better education and therefore a better future.

Daniel Stefan '10 is a double major in Economics & Business and Policy Studies with a focus on Corporate and Public Finance. Daniel has externed at Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and TGS Financial Advisors during the Winter interims. He has also interned for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in Washington, DC during the summer of 2007 and both TGS Financial Advisors in Rador, PA and the Lafayette College Office of Public Information in Easton, PA in the summer of 2008. Amongst his activities at Lafayette, he is a board member of the Investment Club, the Student Delegate to the Trustee Committee on Financial Policy, a Gateway Career Ambassador and the tresurer of Policy in Action student club.

Brad Weiss ‘10 is a Policy Studies major with a Social Policy concentration. He is a member of the intercollegiate baseball team and Patriot League Honor Roll. In the spring of 2009, Brad and fellow PS major Justin Kamine '11lead a movement focusing on creating a “green” environment at Lafayette College which entails maximizing energy use and creating a more self reliant energy source for the school. In January 2009, Brad took part in externships with Medco Health Solutions and Abbott Technologies.
