Men's Lacrosse falls to Army 9-19

The Leopards just couldn’t stop one of the Patriot League’s top lacrosse teams on May 4, as they lost to Army 9-19.

It was truly a battle, as Lafayette’s Morgan Battle '01 of Princeton, N.J. collected five goals in a tremendous effort.

Army scored just nine seconds into the game but Battle responded shortly after with a goal coming from a solid pass by Ted Blackburn '02. The score showed Army leading 4-1 after the first quarter, and much of the same continued, as Battle did his best to keep the Leopards in the game. But, Army was still able to build an 8-2 lead after the first half.

Eleven goals were scored in a tense third quarter but Lafayette only scored 4 of them, and trailed 15-6 after the quarter. Michael Joedecke '99 and Kevin Bromby '01 added goals for the Leopards while Battle scored two more.

Blackburn, Bromby, and Battle all scored in the fourth quarter but Lafayette still fell 19-9.

Lafayette’s final record is 4-9 with a 1-4 Patriot League record. Battle finished the season second in the Patriot League with 51 points, one behind Army’s Tim Pearson, and Bromby finished the season with 48.

The squad has high hopes to win more games and improve their record next year.
