The “America Reads Challenge” is a nationwide program designed to
employ college students “as reading tutors for children, to help insure that all children will read independently and on grade level by third grade."
Lafayette College has approximately forty tutors each year who make a tremendous difference in the lives of the children with whom they work.
Lafayette students who participate in this program have the opportunity to work at one of several local sites, including Easton Area Elementary Schools, Lehigh Valley Child Care on College Hill, and The Salvation Army.
All Lafayette students are welcome to apply; however, only students who are federal work-study eligible can be paid. Applications are available in 101 Hogg Hall. Please see Tammy Yeakel for more information about the application and interview process.
Don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity to gain useful skills while having a meaningful impact on the lives of the children in our community.
