Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 12 p.m. - Marlo Room A discussion, hosted by the Reeder Street Scholar program, will question the widespread use of psychological drugs and the common perceptions of this unique class of drugs. This event will feature some of the doctors from the Bailey Health Center to provide a medical perspective. Discussion will center around the reasons why psychological drug therapy has recently become popular, the strong opinions society (and our campus) has about such drugs, and how/why those opinions are formed. Everyone is welcome! Feel free to bring your own lunch. |

Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 7 p.m. - Marlo Room Neuroscience Information Session Information session to discuss neuroscience (well any science really) classes (which ones to take, how we liked them, how hard they were etc) offered next semester and scheduling. We would like to have both upperclassmen AND underclassmen attend, that way we will have people looking for AND providing the advice (and upperclassmen need advice sometimes too). Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 8 p.m. "Opiate Drug Exposure During Pregnancy" Dr. Lisa Schrott '87, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neuroscience at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, will give a presentation entitled "Opiate Drug Exposure During Pregnancy: A Potential Risk Factor for Substance Abuse Later in Life." Her presentation is sponsored by the Neuroscience Program. All are welcome to attend. Reception to follow in the lobby of Oechsle Hall. 224 Oechsle Hall (Auditorium) Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 4:10 p.m. Neuroscience Research through the LEARN Program The Lafayette Alumni Research Network (LEARN) Program, affiliated with the Neuroscience Program, enables current Lafayette students to conduct research during the summer on various problems in neuroscience with Lafayette alumni at institutions around the country.
