J.
Larry Stockton (Professor and Chairman) is
a specialist in traditional Japanese music, specifically music of the
Kabuki
theater. In addition he teaches courses in World Music Traditions,
Jazz,
East Asian Studies and various other courses within the Department and
the College. In addition, he directs the Percussion and World Music
Ensembles.
He is also active as a performer (percussion), conductor, and
clinician, having performed and studied throughout the U.S., Canada,
Mexico, Europe, Japan, Korea, Ghana, and Indonesia. He has published
numerous articles and conducted workshops in Japanese
music. He has produced and edited a four-volume set of band music for
Toshiba-EMI,

Anthony M. Cummings (Professor) earned the B.A.
degree in history and music from Williams College and the M.F.A. and
Ph.D. degrees in historical musicology from Princeton University.
Professor Cummings is a specialist in European music of the medieval
and early-modern periods and in early jazz. He teaches a course
on European classical instrumental music for non-majors, and, for both
majors and non-majors, a survey of European music from the Middle Ages
to 1800 and specialized courses on the music of the Italian Renaissance
and the history of Italian opera. He has published four books on
Renaissance music and has completed a fifth, and is the editor of a
forthcoming edition of the complete works of two important early New
Orleans jazz musicians. He is also the author of numerous
articles in scholarly journals and papers delivered at international

Kirk O'Riordan ( Assistant Professor / Director of Bands
/Concert Band Director) is an active composer, conductor,
saxophonist, and teacher. His
compositions have been performed in Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cyprus,
Finland, Italy, and Russia; and in 23 of the fifty United States.
He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State
University; the Certificate of Performance in Saxopohne from
Northwestern University; and three Master of Music degrees
(composition, saxophone performance, and conducting). Dr. O'Riordan is the recipient of numerous

Jorge Torres (Associate Professor) received
his PhD in Musicology from Cornell University. His research
examines
17th century French lute performance, the Latin American bolero
romántico, and primary sources for Latin American big band
music. His publications have appeared in the Journal of the
Lute Society of America, American Music, Notes, and Symposium.
His article on the bolero romántico is
included in the collection From Tejano to Tango.
He has taught at St. Lawrence University, where he directed the
Caribbean and Latin American Studies program, and at Grinnell College
where, along with teaching courses in music history and world music he

Skip
Wilkins (Associate Professor) is a jazz pianist,
composer
and arranger, and teaches all levels of music theory and
jazz-related courses in the program. He has performed with David
Liebman, Bobby
Watson,
Plas Johnson, Conte Candoli and Mark Murphy among many others. He
has numerous recordings
on Dreambox Media, including his latest, "The Paint-Peeler" (DMJ 1117,
August 2008). Other recent recordings include "Skip Wilkins
Solo--Live at Lafayette"
(DMJ-1109, 2007), "Volume II" (DMJ -1104, 2007), and "Volume I"
(DMJ-1101, 2006). A highlight
of
previous recordings includes "Petty Theft" (Cathexis, 2001), featuring
David Liebman. Skip is also active as a
clinician and adjudicator.

Jennifer Kelly (Assitant Professor/Director of Choral
Activities) holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral
conducting
from U.C.L.A. She is very active as a conductor, performer, and

Stephani Bell, Orchestra
Director, Director of String Ensembles, Instructor of Violin and Viola earned
her Bachelor and Master
degrees from the Eastman School of Music, is an alumna of the
Juilliard School, and attended Northwestern University where she held
a graduate teaching fellowship. Her teachers include Sally Thomas, Zvi
Zeitlin, Gerardo Ribiero, Joyce Robbins and Richard Simon. A former
member of the Rochester Philharmonic, Stephani went on to pursue her
career in NY metropolitan area, performing with groups such as the
Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Composer's Orchestra, the New Jersey
Symphony, and the New York Pops. As a chamber musician, Stephani has
performed recently with the Satori Ensemble and Classicopia at
Dartmouth College. Recently, Ms. Bell won a section postion with the

Kenneth
Brader III (Trumpet) is a noted trumpet player and
conductor.
He received his degree from the Eastman School of Music, where he later
directed the Jazz Ensemble. He has been featured as lead trumpet player
with Chuck Mangione, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Glenn Miller
Orchestra,
and many of the worlds leading jazz performers. At Lafayette, Ken
directs

Rick Chamberlain (Trombone, low brass) received
a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory. His
major performance credits include: New York Pops, Tashi, American
Ballet Theater Orchestra, Broadway performances: Cats, Showboat, Joseph
& His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and numerous Jazz venues and
performers. Rick is currently principal trombone with the New
York
City Ballet Orchestra.
Susan
Charlton (Flute) has B.M. and M.F.A. degrees from the University
of
Wisconsin and has performed (flute) with many notable ensembles
including;
The American Wind Symphony, The Waterloo Festival Orchestra, The
Milwaukee
New Music Ensemble, and The Manhattan Wind Quintet. In addition to
directing
the Wind Ensembles and teaching flute at Lafayette, she maintains an
active

Glenn Davis (Drums and
Percussion).
During his long teaching career in schools and music academies, Glenn
has also maintained a very busy schedule of performances and
recordings. He has enjoyed long musical associations with Frank
Foster, Stan Getz, Jimmie Rainey, Marian McPartland, Bill Evans, and
many others.
Tom DiCarlo (String/Electric Bass/Director of Jazz
Combo) received
a Bachelor of Muisc and Master of Music degree from Mason Gross School
of the Arts, Rutgers University. He has performed with the Ray
Charles
Orchestra, Claudio Roditi, Roseanna Vitro, Ralph Bowen, Dave Schbitter
and numerous others. He is active as a performer and teacher.
Alexis
Fisher (Director of Piano Studies) has taught applied piano and
class
piano (Music 130) at Lafayette since 1986. She received her
Bachelor
of Music and Master of Music degrees in piano from Manhattan School of
Music and also attended Indiana University School of Music in
Bloomington,
Indiana. She was on the piano faculty at the University of
Wisconsin--Eau
Clarie (1976-1981), Santa Clara University and San Jose City College
(1981-1986)
until moving to Easton. Ms. Fisher's piano studies were with
Adolph
Baller, Leander Dell'Anno and Abbey Simon. Ms. Fisher is an
active
participant in faculty concerts. She performs in ensemble and as

Frank
Flandorffer (Guitar) teaches all styles of guitar--Segovia method,
fingerstyle, advanced jazz guitar, and improvisation/arranging.
He
is an extremely versatile performer with credits that include studio
work
for P.B.S. and performances with Tom Jones, Sonny and Cher, Bob Hope,
and

Tony Gairo (Saxophone) received
a B.M. degree in Jazz
Performance from Temple University. Performance credits include:
Ravi Coltrane, David "Fathead" Newman, Bud Shank, Michael Wolff, Joey
Defrancesco, and many others. His compositions have been
performed by the BMI Jazz Orchestra, Montclair Composer's Big Band,
Meetinghouse Jazz Orchestra, and others. Tony is active as a
performer, composer/arranger, teacher, and clinician.

Nobuo Kitagawa (Oboe), a graduate of Tokyo University
of Arts, received M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from Yale University.
He was the winner of the Woolsey Hall Competition, NHK Young Artists'
Audition in Tokyo, and Katz Young Musicians' Competition in New York
City. He has performed concertos with the Denver Symphony,
Orchestra New England, and Yale Philharmonia. His oboe teachers
include Ronald Roseman, David Abosch, and Ray Still. He also gives
master classes and workshops on
chamber music and practice techniques.

Tom Kozic (Guitar) is
an experienced teacher and lecturer on contemporary guitar styles and
jazz improvisation. He toured for four years as lead-guitarist
with
Eddie Rabbit. Other performing credits include: Eddie Fisher,
Frankie
Lane, Jerry Vale, Vic Damone, Phil Woods, and many others.
Laura
Oltman (Guitar) has received acclaim for her recital and
chamber music performances throughout the world. The New York
Times described her debut performance at Carnegie Recital Hall as "remarkably successful--sensitive, well
proportioned, and large on lyrical feeling." Laura was
chosen to perform in a nationally televised master class conducted by
Andrės Segovia at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. In
addition to her position at Lafayette College, Laura is guitar
instructor at Princeton University, partner in the Newman & Oltman
Guitar Duo---Ensemble-in-Residence at New York's Mannes College of
Music since 1987.

Judith
Manley (Voice) teaches both operatic and popular voice
styles.
She has degrees from West Chester University and Trenton State
University.
In addition to maintaining a very rigorous teaching schedule, she is
also
active as an accompanist and as a vocal coach for numerous theater
productions.
Anna Maria Marzullo (Piano) received a Bachelor of
Music degree in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory of
Music and Masters degree in Administrative Science from The Johns
Hopkins University. While in Baltimore, she was on the piano
faculty of the Peabody Preparatory Division and, upon moving to the
Lehigh Valley, held the position of Executive Director of the Allentown
Symphony. In addition to teaching at Lafayette, Ms. Marzullo
teaches privately in the area.
David Mattock (piano) received a
B.M. in Jazz Performance from Temple University. David maintains
a very active teaching and performing schedule and is currently working
on a Master's Degree in Jazz History and Research at Rutgers University.
Betty Tang (Cello) began
studying music at the age of four under the guidance of her father,
David Tang, a noted teacher and violin maker. She has studied at
the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, Mannes College of Music
in New York, and the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore.
She performs regularly with the Allentown Symphony and the Lehigh
Valley Camber Orchestra.
Eric van Hoven (voice),
a Mississippi native, debuted at three of New York City's most
prestigious music venues; New York City Opera (Die Zauberflöte), Avery Fisher
Hall (singing the role of Hermes in Bruch's Odysseus), and his Broadway debut
in Candide, directed by Hal
Prince. He has performed principal roles with Opera De Las Amricas,
Portland Opera, Opera Omaha, Chautauqua Opera, South Carolina Opera,
Hawaii Opera Theatre, Knoxville Opera, Sacramento Opera, and Augusta
Opera.
