VAST

Laura Walls and I are co-coordinators for The Values and Science/Technology Program (VAST). Our responsibilities include recruiting faculty for new courses, assiting in course development, running workshops, and bringing speakers to campus. Laura acts as liason between the VAST program and the Curriculum and Educational Policy Committee, and edits the Vast Essays. I have take responsibility for technology; I assist VAST faculty with electronic conference boards and home page development. I also manage The VAST Home Page and the home page for The College Writing Program, and I am invovled in creating a home page for The First Year Seminar Program. VAST, CWP, and FYS are distinct but interrelated programs whose leaders work closely with each other. We hope to use our web sites to facilitate our interconnection.

Both Laura and I regularly teach VAST courses. Laura teaches VAST 204 - Literature and Science and I teach VAST 206 - AIDS: A Modern Pandemic. If you have questions about VAST or comments about the program, please contact one of us. We will be happy to talk with you.
