Andrew Kortyna

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at Lafayette College. I obtained my Ph.D. from Wesleyan University and have been a researcher at the Universitaet Kaiserslautern in Germany. I have also worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where I maintain an ongoing collaboration with the Atomic and Molecular Physics Group. I also taught at Bates College and before I came to Lafayette I was an NSF-AIRE Fellow at Colby College.

Research My research is in the area of atomic and molecular physics, particularly the application of laser spectroscopic techniques to the study of low energy atomic and molecular scattering phenomena. After earning a Ph.D., my research interests turned to the field of electron-molecule scattering. I am still active in this field, but I am currently setting up a laboratory at Lafayette to study low-energy collisions between laser excited atoms. For more details, see a description of my current projects and my publication list.
