Welcome to the Official Site of the International Student Association
The ISA at Lafayette College is a
well-established organization, open to all
students, with two primary objectives:
1. To promote international diversity and
cultural awareness within the college, enhance
cultural sensitivity and international
understanding, and aim to contribute to the
intellectual and social life at Lafayette by
sharing our diverse cultural traditions.
2. To assist international students in
overcoming any difficulties in adapting to a
new lifestyle in the United States, and meeting
the challenge of immersion in a different
cultural setting.

Poster Fair: Celebrate the Nations
November 16-20 at Farinon Atrium
Each country has at least ONE tri-fold to contain tidbits about it. Preferably, include a picture of your national flag, and the importance or significance behind its particular design and/or colors. There can also be pictures of your country as well as some facts - like tourism, or scenery, or a safari. The poster teams can rotate amongst their members when they will stand/sit by their tri-fold armed with information to tell the people who will stop to see your tri-fold.
The ISA will provide you with cardboards for the tri-fold. We request that participants refrain from writing on the tri-fold itself, rather that they print out the information/pictures and paste it on the tri-fold. To sign up, contact Asad Akram at akrama@lafayette.edu. It would be great if you can hand in the finished posters by Saturday, November 14, 2009. They can be deposited in the ISA room or given to Asad. Else, feel free to drop the poster anytime within the International Education Week.
Since the purpose of the International Education Week is basically to spread awareness amongst domestic students about the various countries we represent. There are many misconceptions that Americans have about our countries - sometimes they might even be completely oblivious as to how beautiful our countries are. And they aren’t to be blamed for this obliviousness; it is our job and duty - as students, as students of the ISA, and above all as proud citizens of our countries, to educate people about our countries. We all come from rich cultural backgrounds, many countries represented here are famous for one thing or the other, and all countries represented here are beautiful in their own respect. It is for this reason, that the ISA urges all members of the ISA to take part in this interesting, informative and extremely easy event.
