Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations

The Office of Security and Safety is responsible for the enforcement of the Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations. The regulations are in effect twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. Everyone operating motor vehicles on the campus is expected to cooperate with the officers employed by the College whose duties include traffic and parking control.

All employees operating a motor vehicle must register each vehicle which will be brought to campus. There is no fee for the registration. Each employee will be assigned to a specific lot on campus. Individually numbered parking stickers will be issue d for each vehicle. Stickers are to be affixed to the left section of the rear bumper. Replacement stickers will be issued when needed by calling the Office of Security and Safety at Ext. 5330.

Any employee who has a family member attending Lafayette College - please note - the family member must follow the Undergraduate Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations and obtain a student sticker for their vehicle.

Parking violation citations will be issued to vehicles illegally or improperly parked. If there is no room in the operator's assigned lot, the driver should park on the Parking Deck rear of Markle Hall) and immediately report the matter to the Office of Security and Safety. Employees should not park in an unassigned lot, tow-away zone (red curb), no parking zone (yellow curb) or handicap zone (blue curb) thereby inconveniencing others.

Vehicles parked in tow-away zones (red curb) will be ticketed with a fine of $50.00 assessed. In addition, the vehicle will be towed with the owner/operator responsible for paying the towing and daily storage costs.

Any vehicle which is parked in such a manner as to obstruct campus roadways will be cited and may be towed. The owner of the vehicle will be responsible for the payment of the towing fees and storage fees. The tow-away policy is in effect twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week.

FINES FOR VIOLATIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. General Parking Violation:
First Offense:Warning
Second Offense:$10.00
Third Offense:$15.00
Additional Offenses:$20.00

2. Red Tow-Away Zone (red curb): $50.00 + Towing Cost and Daily Storage Cost

3. No Parking Zone (yellow curb): (Same as General Parking Violation above)

4. Handicap Area (blue curb): $100.00

5. Failure to pay fines: (Appropriate disciplinary action)

All fines are payable within 72 business hours of the date of issue at the Cashier'sWindow, Markle Hall.
