Job Title: Teaching Assistant/Information Literacy Program
Scope of Work:
Works closely with Library Instruction Team in designing, implementing and coordinating workshops and materials for Information Literacy Program. Typical duties may include assisting with the design of course materials, team-teaching workshops and classes, and compiling evaluation statistics. This position entails frequent contact with both university and community patrons and requires tact and diplomacy in many situations.
As an integral member of the library instruction team, the teaching assistant will gain first had experience in:
The Teaching Assistant may also be asked to staff the Electronic Classroom and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Skill Requirements:
Demonstrated knowledge of computers, the Internet, educational theory and practice strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, as well as a desire to teach and an ability to interact with a variety of age ranges. Ability to work with little or no supervision and make valid independent judgements necessary. Organizational, training and supervisory skills required.
Field of Study/Coursework Preferred:
Education or Computer Science Majors preferred. Recommended coursework includes (but is not limited to) COS 305, Computers in the Classroom. Student teaching or other classroom experience helpful.

The Teaching Assistant may collaborate with Instruction Team members in publishing results of the Information Literacy Program.
