If there are 8 or more teams, the tournament will be run as follows:

a.        Teams shall consist of 3 men in ach of the three weapons.  Each weapon shall
be divided into three pools designated "A", "B", and "C".  Each school's #1-2-3 men MUST be placed in the A-B-C pools respectively; determination of who is #1-2-3 is based upon dual meet statistics.  If short, a team must enter fencers first in the "A" pool, next in the "B" pool, and only lastly in the "C" pool.

b.        Fencers shall fence complete round robins in each pool.  The order of the bouts
shall be according to the USFA rules book.

c.        If there are more than 12 schools entered, each foil pool and each epee pool shall be run on two strips.  Each strip shall have a double-reel hookup (two reels at each end).

Each weapon is fenced on three strips.  An index card with blank spaces for names, score, bout number, pool and official shall be made up for each bout in each pool in each weapon and placed on the scoring table.  (If the one-pool-per-weapon format is used, all bouts for that weapon are placed in the proper order in one pile; the officials of each of the strips for that weapons shall draw their bouts from the common pile as soon as they finish the previous bout.)

                                                         FORMAT - INDIVIDUAL FINALS

If there are 8 or more teams, an individual final round will be held in each weapon.  Each final shall be triple stripped. Ties for qualification from team round to final shall be broken by indicator.  The bouts in the individual finals shall not count towards team standings.  The top six (6) fencers from pool "A," the top three (3) from pool "B," and the top fencer only from pool "C" shall advance to the (pool) final in each weapon.
