About EWB at Lafayette College ...
Our
Mission
We are a multidisciplinary group of
Lafayette
students dedicated to meeting the basic health needs of developing
communities in the world by applying sustainable and practical
engineering solutions. Since
the spring of 2003, we have committed ourselves to establishing
long-term relationships with communities, associations, and
organizations in the Yoro District of Honduras.
Our current projects
involve collaborating with community partners on the design and
implementation of potable water and sanitation systems in the rural
communities surrounding the town of
La Habana
.
Our
Purpose
-
To create socially,
globally and environmentally aware professionals that will be
actively engaged in issues concerning sustainable development.
-
To give students
the opportunity to work collaboratively with agencies, students, and
communities in the developing world on real-life engineering,
construction, and education projects from start to finish – an
educational experience that is otherwise impossible to duplicate in
the classroom.
-
To share this
experience with the rest of the Lafayette College and Easton
community by hosting presentations, brown bag discussions,
workshops, guest speakers, and other activities that center around
the theme of sustainable development.
