The requirements for the B.S. degree with a major in Biochemistry include:  Mathematics 161, 162 and 263; Physics 131/133; Chemistry 121/122, 221, 222, 231, 323 or 325, 324 or 326 (must complete one of either 325 or 326), 332, 391 or 495, 351, 352, 452, and at least one other advanced chemistry course (200 or higher level, excluding independent study or thesis).  Biology 101, 102, 261, and one additional Biology course (200 level or higher), and one additional 300 or 400 level course in either Chemistry or Biology in addition to other College-wide requirements for the B.S. degree.

1 Elective requirements must include 3 courses in the humanities and social sciences (with at least one course in each division) and 2 writing courses in the junior and senior year.

 

2 Physical Chemistry with laboratory (Chem. 325 or 326) must be taken at least one of the two semesters.

 

3  The recommended semester assignments shown above for advanced chemistry and biology courses are only guidelines; these courses can be taken any semester if appropriate prerequisites have been satisfied.
