Students considering graduate school in biochemistry should take Math 161/162 in place of Math 125/186, Physics 113/114 in place of Physics 111/112, and Chemistry (323 or 325) and (324 or 326) in place of Chemistry 311.

1  Elective requirements must include 3 courses in the humanities and social sciences, 2 writing courses in the junior and senior year, and completion of the foreign culture requirement (demonstration of foreign language proficiency, or an approved course of study abroad, or completion of a three course "culture cluster").

2  Research cannot be taken as the Advanced Chemistry elective.  A 200 level or above Chemistry course is required.  Those students who take Chemistry 323 or 325 must complete Chemistry 324 or 326 as the Advanced Chemistry elective.   The recommended semester assignments shown above for Advanced Chemistry and Biology courses are only guidelines; these courses can be taken any semester if appropriate prerequisites have been satisfied.
