Parents & Family MembersA Welcome from our Director Dear Parents and Family Members, The college years are an exciting time for discovery and exploration both in and out of the classroom. Career Services will help your student make the most of his or her experience through a unique program called Gateway. As one of the first colleges in the country to offer a four-year career development program, we know the importance of having students engage with career services early. The Gateway program is not a "cookie cutter" approach to career decision-making. Our work with your student is individualized, and because we know that students come to us with varying degrees of awareness about careers, we begin wherever they are in the process. Starting early allows your student more time for exploration of interests and values; more time for skill building through academics, co-curricular activities, volunteer service and internships; and more time to develop a solid career network through the Lafayette family. As part of the Gateway program we also offer career panels, an extraordinary externship program (which just celebrated its 25th year!), networking events both on and off campus, and much more. We are proud that the Gateway Program is supported by over 600 alumni and parents who generously give their time and talent each year to help our students explore career options, gain experience and transition to graduate school and the world of work. I invite you to read more about our Gateway Program and encourage you to become involved as well. Four years go by quickly, so join us in helping your student make the most of their Lafayette experience. Best regards, Linda Arra |
