2009 Externship Process Timeline for Students

OCTOBER

• Receive Externship Booklet by October 10th.
• Attend The Externship Process Made Easy workshop on October 14th.  This is not required but strongly encouraged, especially for those applying for the first time.
• Submit application, essay and your resume through the on-line application process to Career Services by Monday, October 27th.
• Interviews held the week of November 10th, if necessary.

NOVEMBER

• Students matched during the first round are notified through campus mail by November 17th.
• Hosts receive names and application materials of matched students during the week of November 17th.
• Students not matched will have the opportunity to select from remaining Externships on November 17th, 18th, and 19th.
• Mandatory Orientation will be held November 20th and 21st at 12:15 and 4:15PM in 224 Oechsle (attend one only).
• Financial assistance applications are due to Alumni Office by Wednesday, November 26th.

DECEMBER

• Contact hosts to discuss Externship details between November 21st and December 5th.
• Submit call response form to Career Services by December 8th.
• Students are notified of financial assistance award by Friday, December 5th.
• Students and hosts continue communications and planning.

JANUARY

• Externships take place during the weeks of January 5th, 12th, and 19th.
• Students send thank you letters to hosts upon conclusion of the Externship.

FEBRUARY

• Financial assistance recipients submit receipts for reimbursement.
• Students submit copy of thank you letters and evaluations to Career Services by February 8th.
