CALL FOR PAPERS

Successful Undergraduate Research Programs
Highlight your successful undergraduate research program or projects! This session is designed to exchange ideas between faculty on implementing or expanding undergraduate research opportunities. Not only REU-type programs, but descriptions of small-scale, more individualized programs are encouraged.

Physics and Society Education
(Co-Sponsored by the Committee on Science Education for the Public)
We should equip our students with the tools needed to understand physics-related societal issues. This session will present talks about how to include, within physics courses, topics on the environment, natural resources, nuclear weapons, the relations between science and society, and critical thinking.

Preparation of Pre-College Physics Teachers in the 21st Century
(Co-Sponsored by the Committee on Physics in High School)
How can we prepare high school teachers to meet the demands of this rapidly changing technological society? How can we keep them abreast of developments in science and physics education research? How can we attract the teachers we need? How can we prepare them to contribute to K-12 science education reform? Share your visions, strategies, and programs.
