Susan L. Averett is the Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics and just completed two terms as Head of the Economics Department at Lafayette College. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Colorado and is the author or coauthor of dozens of refereed articles. Her current research focuses on the economic causes and consequences of obesity, the behavior and academic achievement of multiracial youth and the effect of birth order on adolescent health and risky behavior. She is also the coauthor, with Saul D. Hoffman of the textbook "Women and the Economy: Family Work and Pay." She teaches courses on health economics, women and the economy, and econometrics. She has received numerous awards for her teaching. She also serves as the Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA and the faculty mentor to the Lafayette College football team. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Easton Hospital.
