Williams
Center for the Arts Director Ellis Finger was presented the William
Dawson Award for Programmatic Excellence by the Association of Performing
Arts Presenters at its 45th annual conference. This national award
recognizes sustained achievement in programming, and honors an individual
or organization for quality, innovation, and vision of program design,
audience building, and community involvement efforts. Elliss
selection was by unanimous vote of the Associations awards
committee. After his remarks,
Ellis proudly brandished a Pennsylvania flag and a Lafayette Leopard. |

Elliss
award was presented, with a wonderful
tribute speech and a little rapping, by Philadelphia hip-hop
choreographer and Williams Center favorite Rennie Harris. (We have
no photographs of Ellis and Rennie dancing, but trust us, it was
quite a sight!) |

Pennsylvania
prizewinners! Homeland Security Director and former Pennsylvania
governor Tom Ridge was presented the Sidney R. Yates Advocacy Award
for outstanding advocacy on behalf of the performing arts. Before
he was whisked away by the Secret Service, Mr. Ridge insisted on
posing for a picture with Ellis.
