365 Days/365 Plays
by Suzan-Lori Parks
365 Days/365 Plays started in November 2002, when Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks began writing a play every day for the next 365 days. From November 2006 to November 2007, the 365 Days/365 Plays National Festival will premiere the work across the country, creating the largest collaboration in the history of American theater. Lafayette College Theater, one of more than 600 companies participating, will stage seven of the plays on seven days early in the semester, then reprise them all in a single evening of compelling theater. Directed by College Theater faculty and advanced students.

Auditions to be held Monday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 4 at 4:30 p.m.; for more information, contact Director Michael O'Neill.

Wednesday–Saturday, October 31–November 3
Our Town
by Thornton Wilder

From the provincial sadness of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? to the black umbrellas in Stephen Sondheim’s Company, no American play has influenced contemporary theater more than this 1938 Pulitzer Prize winner. You’ll see the mundane, silly, uplifting, and eternal events in and around Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire in a way your teacher never mentioned back in high school, and take a refreshing, unconventional look at small town America through the diverse lenses of contemporary urban experience. Directed by Michael O’Neill.

Auditions to be held Monday–Tuesday, September 10–11 at 7:00 p.m.; for more information, contact Director Michael O'Neill.

Fringe Fifteen
In this XVth annual celebration and send-up of the weird and the wannabe-avant-garde, students, alumni, and others push past old theater boundaries and cross the line into the new with plays, dance, songs, poetry, and performance art. This year’s Fringe features Anton Chekhov and Robin Hood in ways neither ever dreamed.
Fringe applications have been mailed to all students, staff, and faculty; everyone is welcome to perform!
Here's a PDF application you can print out.

The Rivals

Wednesday–Saturday, March 5–8
Pride and Prejudice
adapted from Jane Austen by Jon Jory
The unorthodox Elizabeth Bennet, her colorful family, a string of unsuitable suitors, and the brooding Mr. Darcy spring to life on the stage in an engaging and witty new adaptation of the beloved 1813 novel. In a society where subtle snubs and deceit proliferate, can an independent-minded woman and an enigmatic man form an alliance in love to make the best match of all? Directed by Mary Jo Lodge.

Auditions to be held November 5 and 6; for more information, contact Director Mary Jo Lodge.

Into the Woods

Wednesday–Saturday, April 23–26
The Shape of Things
by Neil LaBute
The border between intimacy and psychosis blurs in this disturbing satire of four American college students whose impossible images of beauty lead to destruction. As current as the newest diet fad, this contemporary Pygmalion rips apart our obsessions with art, sex, and perfection. Playwright/screenwriter LaBute may be the sharpest misanthrope now writing for the theater. Directed by Kelly Hess ’08.
