Second
Annual
Pre-Game Block pARTy
September 27, 2003 |
This
year’s pARTy expanded on the success of last year’s inaugural
event to become a major gotta-be-there for hundreds of delighted students,
staff and faculty, alumni, and community friends, who spent two hours
before the football game against Princeton taking in the celebration
of arts and sports.
|
Campus
organizations offered participatory arts-related fun, plus information
about themselves. |
| |
|
|
| The
Association of Black Collegians helped pARTygoers create custom
t-shirts. |
The
buttons made on the spot by QuEST and Association of Lafayette
Feminists were very popular. |
LAFTA
offered creative items such as coffee-bean candles. |
|
 |
 |
| Lafayette
Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP) encouraged natural
art with spring-flowering bulb—to go! |
The
hair-braiders from NIA were busy with customers all pARTy long. |
A

magnetic poetry board. |
| |
|
 |
| The
College Republicans painted young faces. |
Young
arts fans used up all the sand at the Marquis Players' sand art
table! |
Make-your-own
beaded bracelets and vegan goodies were hits at the Students for
Social Justice table. |
|
|
 |
 |
| There
was a long line of people waiting for Lafayette Activities Forum's
temporary tattoos. |
The
Pard stops to visit the Hispanic Society's display of Latin American
art. |
The
Arts Society's graffiti wall was completely covered by kickoff
time. |
|
Student
performers kept the pARTy lively at both ends of the block. |
| |
|
|
| Cadence
sounded sweet as ever. |
The
"new kids on the block," Soulfege, harmonized to open
the pARTy. |
The
always-popular Chorduroys. |
| |
|
|
| Who
needs Mitch & Micky when we have Amanda Driscoll and Dan
O'Neil? |
The
Tribal Beasts just have a scary name—they sounded great!
|
The
Lafayette Dancers brightened the Block pARTy for a second year. |
| |
 |
 |
| Jadrien
Ellison (left) and his Crew (center) rocked the block and may
have inspired some young dancers (right)! |
|
|
Student
art brightened the day. |
| |
 |
| Danielle
Truppo was too busy with fans of her hand-made jewelry to look
at that textbook she brought along. |
Terese
Brown showed off her imaginative fashion designs. |
| |
 |
| Julie
Phelan's large-scale, colorful paintings attracted admirers. |
Davita
Crawford's photographs rate a big smile—and some buyers! |
|
|
And
that's not all... |
| |
|
|
| Whew!
So much to see...gotta rest. |
Prizes
from the Arts 'n' Sports raffle were awarded during the second
quarter. |
The
cheerleaders offered a chance to win the game ball. |
|
|
 |
| These
gentlemen paused in their lunch to pose for Director of Recreation
Services Jodie Frey. |
Karen
Forbes, Director of the Counseling Center, supplied bottled water
and alcohol safety information. |
Another
youngster flummoxed by the strolling magician! |
| |
|
 |
| Stephen
Bruestle's balloon animals made the pARTy into a zoo! |
Multi-tasking
at the LAFTA table. |
Chefs
from Almond Tree Manor tended their sizzling kabobs. |
|
|
|
| Dean
of Students Jim Krivoski, the Pard, and President Arthur Rothkopf
say "see you next year!" |
