B.F. Skinner Memorial Address

At this year's convention, TIBA was pleased to feature Dr. Gerald Holton as the B. F. Skinner Memorial Speaker. Dr. Holton, however, was unable to attend the conference due to illness.

Dr. Holton is an historian of science familiar with Skinner and with Skinner's work. He is the author of over a dozen books, among which are Thematic Origins of Scientific Thought (1988, Harvard University Press) and the newly published Einstein, History, and other Passions (1996, Addison Wesley). His address will be "Skinner, Bridgman, and Harvard's Lost Years."

Dr. Murray Sidman is known for his classic research book, Tactics of Scientific Research , (1960/1988, Authors Cooperative, Inc.) and for pioneering the work in equivalence relations. His recent book Equivalence Relations and Behavior: A Research Story (1994, Authors Cooperative, Inc.), describes that work. Dr. Sidman's address will be "Some Thoughts about Theory and Models."
