My name is Maria Marcela Vega, and I am currently a senior at Lafayette double-majoring in Mathematics/Economics, and International Affairs. Currently, I am the president and co-founder of the Actuary Club. I developed an interest for Actuarial science through my friend Amy, who taught me the challenges and rewards of the profession. Through being part of the Actuary Club I have come to develop a sincere respect and appreciation for the industry, and all of its participants. I sincerely hope you enjoy our website!

Hi, my name is Chencong Bao, Secretary for the club and I’m an international student from China. My major is Mathematics and Economics. I am interested in this club because I want to gain knowledge about actuaries, as well as the business and societal problems that they are involved with. Another thing that I get out of the club is opportunities for networking through presentations given by companies coming on campus, as well as access to a host of study materials to prepare me for the exams.

Hi, I’m Chris Shafer and am currently both the Vice President and the Web Coordinator for the Actuary Club. I’m a Junior, majoring in Mathematics and Economics joint major. I wanted a career involving lots of math, particularly probability/statistics, and being an actuary fits that pretty well. I am preparing for my first exam, Exam P, which I will take January 2009.
