College Theater presents Happy Days by Samuel Beckett

Astonishing recent revivals starring Felicity Kendall and Fiona Shaw of this 1962 masterpiece have further deepened the connection between Samuel Beckett’s modern Everywoman and the way we see ourselves. By boldly anchoring the most compelling stage image in modern theater—a woman chattering endlessly as she is buried alive—in an empty downtown building, this site-specific production challenges us to endure beyond the sins of our environment.

Featuring Suzanne Westfall. Directed by Michael O’Neill.

September 24 through 27; 8 p.m.
223 North Third Street, Easton (next to WVAB)
Price: students $2; staff/faculty $3; public $6

College Theater presents Urinetown by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann

Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a Broadway show could be, this grand and winking love letter to the conventions of musical theater depicts a world wracked by ecological disaster and corporate greed—and a hero who rises to lead the people to freedom! Entertainment Weekly called this hilarious and tuneful 2001 Tony Award winner “inspired, fresh, exuberant, even moving.”

Directed and choreographed by Mary Jo Lodge, with vocal direction by Jennifer Kelly.

October 29 through November 1; 8 p.m.
Williams Center for the Arts
Price: students $2; staff/faculty $3; public $6
