Please continue to check back for more profiles.Peter Gray '05 By the winter before Peter Gray graduated from Lafayette, he had already accepted a position as process manager with Procter & Gamble, where he would go on to manage raw materials and process control, and oversee quality assurance results for a business department of 100 employees. Part of what prepared him for his first full-time job was a series of employment and shadowing opportunities beginning the summer after his sophomore year. Peter began with an internship at Philips Medical Systems in Massachusetts, where he gained his first exposure to working with both engineers as well as marking personnel. Then in his junior year he did an externship with a consulting firm in Washington, DC, through the Gateway program. "This gave me some exposure to engineering consulting and allowed me to make decisions on what did and did not interest me for my career choices moving forward." Finally in the summer before his senior year Peter had an internship as an engineer at Megapulse, Inc. in MA. While there, he gained knowledge about design engineering, and realized the best fit for him after graduation would be in manufacturing, where I could use his technical background and work with people in a challenging environment. Peter credits much of his success in landing his first job to his participation in Gateway. "Through the Gateway program, I received multiple on-campus interviews my senior year. Many of these interviews were ones that would have been extremely difficult to set up and achieve without the assistance of Gateway." This past July, Peter decided to shift his career path to commercial insurance, where he would be more in tune with the business world through finance and business administration. He believes that having his career set up before leaving Lafayette was essential to having a fast and successful start to the business world.
